A new report by CAA and Brightline Defense Project shows that San Francisco is failing to hire a law-stated 50% of local residents on public infrastructure projects. Women and minorities, especially, are underrepresented in the construction workforce and are heavily skewed toward lower-paying trades.

New “Community Ambassador” Program Seeks to Protect Residents in Southeast San Francisco
San Francisco recently announced a new safety program which will provide residents with safety escorts to walk them from bus stops to work, home, or other locations whenever they feel unsafe. These non-police city employees can provide escort, safety tips, and emergency numbers and speak 7 languages besides English.

SF Supervisors Approve $400K to Support Translation and Interpretation Services for City
On July 1, the Budget Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved $400,000 to improve citywide translation and interpretation services, based on recommendations made by CAA to increase language access in the City.
